Rule the Runway Under the Stars

The Night Shift at United Airlines

While the rest of the world sleeps, the tarmac comes alive. United Airlines is seeking dedicated night owls for our Overnight Ramp Agent positions. This specific sector of aviation jobs focuses heavily on mail, high-priority freight, and the repositioning of aircraft for the morning rush. If you prefer a quieter, yet highly intense logistical environment, these overnight airport jobs offer an incredible, dominant career path.

Job Summary

As an Overnight Ramp Agent, you will support late-night arrivals and early-morning departures. The dark hours are critical for cargo logistics; you will handle massive volumes of priority freight, medical supplies, and international mail. You will operate large-scale cargo loaders and reposition wide-body aircraft. This role is physically demanding and requires a profound commitment to safety and precision under artificial lighting and varying weather conditions.

Night Operations Responsibilities

  • Heavy Cargo Handling: Operate specialized lower-deck cargo loaders (K-loaders) to maneuver multi-ton Unit Load Devices (ULDs) into the bellies of wide-body aircraft.
  • Mail & Freight Sortation: Unload and accurately scan high volumes of US Postal Service mail and commercial freight, ensuring strict tracking and security compliance.
  • Aircraft Servicing: Perform deep-service operations on planes parked for the night (RON - Remain Over Night), including comprehensive lavatory and potable water servicing.
  • Ramp Preparation: Clear the gates of debris, pre-stage ground equipment, and ensure the tarmac is flawlessly prepared for the heavy morning flight bank.

Dominant Night Shift Benefits

United Airlines honors the dedication of its night crews with unmatched rewards:

  • Shift Differential Pay: Earn a lucrative premium on top of your hourly base pay simply for working the graveyard shift.
  • Unmatched Travel: Access the exact same legendary standby flight privileges as daytime staff—perfect for weekend getaways.
  • Career Fast-Track: Night shifts often provide accelerated pathways for seniority and promotions within the airline industry.
  • Full Benefits: Complete medical, dental, and 401(k) coverage from day one.

Requirements

  • Must be 18+ years old with a High School diploma or GED.
  • Absolute willingness to work graveyard shifts (e.g., 9:00 PM to 5:30 AM), including weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to lift heavy cargo and operate machinery safely in low-light conditions.
